1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
The public is invited to view the work of students from the Yale Norfolk School of Art at their Open Studios session at the Art Barn, Sunday, June 28 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The work on display reflects this summer’s theme, “Seeing Through,” inspired by French philosopher Édouard Glissant’s writing on opacity and its counterpart, transparency. Glissant suggests that opacity is not the same as obscurity, but instead refers to what resists simplification or reduction. Building on this idea, the students explore transparency and opacity as ways of perceiving and understanding—examining what it means to see through something, both literally and conceptually.
