The Norfolk Conservation Commission and the Norfolk Nature Alliance are presenting the talk “Horticulture: The Abundant Life in Old and Dead Trees” by naturalist Margery Winters, Saturday, September 5 at 4:00 p.m. at the Norfolk Hub. Once considered a hazard in forest landscapes, dead trees are now known to be essential parts of a healthy forest ecosystem. Learn how, even as they decay into the forest floor, these trees feed a myriad to creatures and vegetative life.
Margery Winters is a naturalist and the Program Coordinator at Roaring Brook Nature Center.
The Norfolk Nature Alliance is a collaborative network of conservation-minded organizations in Norfolk, Connecticut, dedicated to promoting biodiversity, habitat restoration, and ecological education. Member organizations include the Norfolk Land Trust, Norfolk Conservation Commission, Great Mountain Forest, Aton Forest, Church of Christ’s Green Team, Doolittle Lake Company, and The Norfolk Hub.
