Tax Collector

Overview

The Tax Collector is an appointed position responsible for collecting real estate, motor vehicle and personal property taxes due the Town.

Norfolk taxpayers may pay their Real Estate, Personal Property, Motor Vehicle, or supplemental Motor Vehicle taxes online with Point and Pay, a company the town has partnered with.

If taxes are delinquent, please contact the Tax Office during office hours on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in person or by phone at 860-542-5140 for the current amount due prior to making your payment. As an added note, the Tax Office does have all delinquent taxes that are due online. Please remember that, if your account has been sent for further collections, more fees may be added.

The Tax Collector’s office is located in Town Hall, 19 Maple Avenue

Due to changes in the US Postal Service, mail can no longer be guaranteed to be postmarked on the day it is collected.  The US Postal Service has stated that it can now take up to 3-4 days for regularly collected mail to be postmarked.  It is recommended that anyone mailing in tax payments close to the due dates to hand the letter to the postal worker behind the counter, and they can stamp it with the postmarked date.  Doing this will prevent tax bills from being considered late and incurring extra costs and payments.
