The Women & Girls Fund of Northwest CT Community Foundation (NCCF) will host a Women & Girls “Personal Care Kit Making Session” for the Norfolk Food Pantry at the Norfolk Hub, Wednesday, August 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Women and girls in our community will come together to help others in need, learn a little about the Women & Girls Fund and have a chance to socialize.
A Harvard Health Study found that 64% of women reported having difficulty affording menstrual products “referred to as period poverty” and certain benefit programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), do not provide for the purchase of menstrual supplies. The Women & Girls Fund at NCCF has secured funds through an anonymous donor to provide personal care products at the Norfolk Food Pantry to fill this need.
