The Norfolk Library will present a “Resilience in Cinema: Innocence and optimism as an act of defiance.” Filmmaker Diego Ongaro will present a selection of three contemporary films by prominent European directors, each exploring the power of innocence and unyielding hope in the face of adversity.
Join the Norfolk Library for the final film in the series, “Happy go Lucky” (2008). Effervescent and brimming with charm, “Happy-Go-Lucky” dives into the life of Poppy (Sally Hawkins), a relentlessly optimistic schoolteacher whose sunny outlook clashes and connects with those around her. A modern-day character study that sparkles with wit and warmth, it’s an ode to resilience and joy, directed by British master Mike Leigh.
