Join the Norfolk Library Cookbook Group for their next meeting on Monday, July 14 at 8pm. Led by avid cookbook collector Barry Webber, this Cookbook Group meets monthly with each meeting focused on a different cookbook or regional cuisine. Participants will check out a copy of the chosen cookbook and try several recipes. For the next meeting, make a dish using your favorite recipe from the book, and we’ll have a potluck.
For July’s meeting, please bring your favorite dish from Julia Child’s cookbook “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” (or from your favorite French cookbook) in honor of Bastille Day. Remember to bring your dish ready to serve on a plate in small portions (ie no French onion soup as tasty as it might be!) and any needed serving utensils. The library will provide dinner plates, flatware, and beverages.
Taking our cue from the Massachusetts Potluck Events Advisory, a potluck may occur as long as the participants are aware that neither the food nor the facilities have been inspected by the state or by a local public health agency. If you would like to learn more about food safety, the USDA offers a helpful resource booklet called Cooking for Groups: A Volunteer’s Guide for Food Safety. You can read the booklet here.
