The Book Lites book discussion group at Norfolk UCC will discuss “On Earth We’re Briefly Young” by Ocean Vuong on Sunday, July 12 beginning at a few minutes after 11:00 a.m. in classroom one in the Battell Chapel building. Vuong was born in Vietnam and raised in Hartford where he attended Manchester Community College briefly before transferring to Pace University. He currently lives in western MA.
The book has won many awards. It is semi-autobiographical and is written as a letter from the narrator to his illiterate mother looking at the family’s past in Vietnam and reflecting on the family’s current struggles with poverty in Hartford.
