Yale Norfolk Art Lecture: Stephen Melville

June 8, Stephen Melville will continue the Yale Norfolk Art Lecture series, “Making Light” with “Making Light: Lucidity and Limit,” at 4:00 p.m. in the Art Barn with a wine reception to follow.

Stephen Melville is a retired art historian living in Norfolk. He will talk about a range of modern ideas of light and color with particular attention to Goethe and Newton.

The Yale Norfolk School of Art, established in 1948, is an intensive six-week undergraduate summer residency program for 26 rising seniors. It is made possible with the support of Yale School of Art, The Norfolk Hub, the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Trust, Low Road Foundation and Battell Arts Foundation.
