SUMMARY:Community Mindfulness with Miranda Lee
DESCRIPTION:Mindfulness can be defined as “paying attention in a particul
 ar way: on purpose\, in the  present moment\, and non-judgmentally.” In 
 this series\, mindfulness practitioner Miranda Lee will teach participants
  how to live a more mindful life and equip them with the tools they need t
 o help build resilience against the challenges of day-to-day life. The cla
 ss has the same structure in each session: theory\, gentle movement (no sp
 ecial clothing or equipment required)\, meditation\, and discussion to fos
 ter a sense of community.\n\nThis course will be offered by the Norfolk Li
 brary via Zoom from 9:15-10:00 a.m. on Saturdays. Anyone can join at any t
 ime.\nTo register for the Zoom sessions\, please click here. \nRegistratio
 n gives you access to the entire mindfulness series. If you register for t
 his session\, you do not have to register again. \n\nMarch’s theme is Se
 lf-Compassion. Research shows that self-compassion is a powerful way to ac
 hieve emotional well-being and contentment. It offers a refuge from consta
 nt self-judgment\, providing a sense of calm\, stability\, and acceptance.
 \n\nMiranda Lee received training from Mindful Schools\, a non-profit orga
 nization which trains educators to bring mindfulness into schools and comm
 unity spaces. Although mindfulness is an ancient practice coming from East
 ern contemplative traditions\, Miranda offers a secular and inclusive appr
 oach.\n
