 ild animals in the neighborhood. With the resurgence of the wild in our re
 gion\, we have been given a second chance to keep them among us\, and to u
 nderstand that we are one species among many. Our regard for the wild worl
 d presages the future.\n\n“After years of conservation work through the 
 Sheffield Land Trust and Sweet Water Trust\, which helped protect huge tra
 cts of natural land in the northeast\, Nancy Smith decided to document the
  wild creatures in her own backyard… The book is beautifully composed wi
 th photography\, humor\, and astonishing detail. Like banners in the breez
 e\, each chapter alerts us to the primal pull of the wild\, for it is here
