Norfolk lost out on getting U.S. Senate congressionally directed funding for the new fire house in 2025, but senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy are again seeking money for the town’s critical fire service in 2026.
They have recommended to the Appropriations Committee that $880,000 be approved to assist with the purchase of a new fire truck anticipated to cost $1.1 million.
The town acted this year to start a fund for the purchase, dedicating $130,000 in the 2025-2026 budget to it, and allocating another $130,000 in the budget that goes into effect July 1.
