Please be aware that there are some towns where residents have received false notices about payments for zoning permits and various other items.  We are taking this opportunity to alert residents to confirm communication from municipal departments and employees.  Do not click on links in emails.  Any payments to the town should be made in person or via the Town Website for taxes.  If you do receive any strange emails, please notify the town.

A referendum regarding the Regional School District No.7 Annual Budget was held in the Town of Norfolk on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. The results are: “Yes” votes = 23, “No” votes = 6.

A Special Town Meeting was held on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at Botelle Elementary School to consider and act on a resolution to appropriate funding for the Mountain Road Bridge replacement and purchase of a new plow truck, accept Haystack Woods Road as a public roadway and designate a Town Resource Recovery Authority. In keeping with State and Federal regulations on records retention and disposal, school officials plan to destroy the records of Special Education and 504 students who left or graduated from Regional School District No. 7, Barkhamsted Elementary School, Colebrook Consolidated School, Botelle School in Norfolk or Hartland School on or before June 30, 2019 or who were born before July 1, 2001. Starting April 6, 2026, Mountain Road will be closed to through traffic in order for construction to begin on the Mountain Road bridge. The road will be closed from the ballfields to Westside Road. It is anticipated that work should be completed by December.

Northwest Regional School District No. 7 presented its Superintendent’s Proposed 2026-2027 Budget Presentation (updated 3/24/26) and Proposed 2026-2027 Working Budget Summary (updated 3/14/26) at the Botelle School Cafeteria on Monday, March 23, 2026. Copies are available at the Town Clerk’s office.

Certified lists of the Democratic and Republican Party endorsed candidates for the Town of Norfolk Democratic and Republican Committees-at-large are available on file in the office of the Town Clerk.

Due to changes in the US Postal Service, mail can no longer be guaranteed to be postmarked on the day it is collected.  It is recommended that anyone mailing in tax payments close to the due dates to hand the letter to the postal worker behind the counter, and they can stamp it with the postmarked date.  Read more.
